Ok. My iPhone 14 pro max died but I was finally able to reboot. Up button quickly, then down button and then hold down the power button but it has to stay pressed for quite a while. This was the trick, ie hold down the power button down longer than you expect. But all good now.

Same problem…..restart method worked. If this happens again we should all mention it here.
Same thing, woke up, it had been charging all night, but completely dead and not accessible. Took more than several times doing the up/down/power button thing for it to finally work...
Plugged in overnight to charge. Woke up to a dead Iphone 14 pro max. Tried the restart method many times with phone in charger, phone on computer, etc. Took about 20 tries then finally got the apple logo. Just wanted to encourage people to keep trying for a period of time. Good luck!
Hello ~ If that doesn’t work you may need to have your iPhone checked…

Also…you may find help in the post here by *Ronni DC* as that may be of help to you.

Happened to me for the first time this morning. Works! All computers need an occasional reboot which is what your iPhone is. I usually do the customary, up volume and power button simultaneously but this is hard reset without cleaning everything out and its something the Genius bar would do at the Apple Store.
This bug runs also in the Netherlands. iPhone 14 pro max about 3 weeks old. Dead in the morning on the recharger last Saturday, it went on again only in the afternoon after lots of earlier attempts. I put off the battery recharge optimizer for 8 hours. Sunday morning all fine on the charger. This morning (Monday) dead again and only beginning of afternoon responding. With 73% battery. (Last night it was 86%) I think this has to do with the battery recharge optimizer, so I have put off this software totally. So I make a guess that it's something to do with the software for recharging the battery. Perhaps something with the capacity of the recharger or the combination?
But it needs to be addressed by Apple very soon, if I read all the posts here.
Just came here to say this happened to me. I had to do the reset about 20 times before it worked. So, if it's not working for you, keep doing it over and over. This is clearly a glaring issue with the 14. Huge Apple defect. Once on, my phone had full battery, so it's not the power. And my phone is 45 days old.
Could be the case, but I think it's also possible that the build in battery charge optimizer, which is active during charging, has a bug in its software. The dead in the morning on the charger happens twice with me. I then closed down that optimizer in the battery settings and no problems since.
Hello ~ Remember your iPhone is not just a phone. As will any computer sometimes a restart is needed. I find all my iPhone can do with no or few issues pretty profound. Think of what your daily life would be without it?

Same with my 14 Pro. (5 months old). Took it off charger in the morning, looked fine (didn’t think to check it was 100%), had my coffee, checked my email on my iPad, picked up my phone and it was black. Neither myself or Apple Techs (2) could get it to boot up. Was told I had to ship it to Apple, now phoneless…
it happened with my two week old iphone 14 pro. I was able to reboot it, but I'm concerned about why it died in the first place. It happened overnight, so the alarm I had set on it never went off which is problematic. Did a diagnostic w/ Apple and everything was okay. I need to be able to rely on my phone!

Just happened to me, too! Dead iPhone 14 Pro (6 months old) after overnight charging on Apple Magcharger. This post saved me/my phone. I had also tried the usual restart by simultaneously pushing up volume and power buttons, which did not help. Like Btpiii, I plugged in my power cord first, which sometimes will restart a dead phone on just by that action, but no. Unplugged and replugged a few times not knowing what else to do until seeing this post-thread. Luckily, the fix from this post worked the first time, but I did have to hold the power button a long time. Curious as are many, why. For now, will settle for knowing how to fix the problem, which is most important. THANK YOU!!!!
Iphone13 died after being on charger. Totally dead! I am 80 yrs old - no way call 911 or anyone as no land line or anyone nearby to help me. . Read online method described above. After hour being on charger phone finally rebooted. Called Tmobile- tech guy nice but no help! Said I did right thing and he checked battery so not that. Now feel insecure with my phone- upset !!!! . Is this a defect since many having same issue on an expensive phone?
