Ok. My iPhone 14 pro max died but I was finally able to reboot. Up button quickly, then down button and then hold down the power button but it has to stay pressed for quite a while. This was the trick, ie hold down the power button down longer than you expect. But all good now.

Thank you! This was helpful this morning when I woke up to a completely dead, brand new iPhone 14 Pro Max. So disappointing but this was a lifesaver! Curious... Did this happen to you again after the first time?

Had SAME problem all describe here- put on my charger when I went to bed- even noticed that it said it was set up w/ "optimized charging to be complete at 7am" I guess based on my habits when I looked that up before (new to iPhone!) Problem is that I too use this as an alarm and thankfully I wasn't late for anything today but woke up over an hour after my alarm should have gone off and couldn't get the phone to do anything when trying to see the time! ;-)

SO my question is this- in addition to many others who are asking WHY and will this happen AGAIN?- is are you saying that you tried to call Apple and TWO of their techs could not come up with THIS fix?? and made you send your phone off for 'repair'??? Yikes.... pay a LOT for that insurance that comes with "apple care"... Who did you call that could not help??

Sorry but I find it a bit alarming that a $1700 device can just go blank like this and not respond without some weird unknown "hard reboot"... Did this wipe anything from my phone? Haven't checked as the normal pic was still on the home screen- didn't think of it until reading some of these comments where someone said this is a "hard reset without cleaning everything out" that would be done at the genius bar at Apple Store....???

I understand these are computers but never had a computer just completely shut off and require some little known "trick" to reboot it... seems like the iOS should know what the problem is and at least warn you of your need to do something for maintenance... Again new to iPhone but had an iMac for years and never had anything like this happen....

So curious what your outcome was after you sent your phone in?!?

And anyone else did it happen again??

Ditto.... haven't had time to look into this further but guess I'll have to do it myself as I've not seen anyone answer or even attempt to here... other than "it's a computer and has to reboot" kinda thing.... but as I said, seems like such an expensive well made piece of technology should have a better way of doing so... maybe asking you to if not set up to do so automatically??? ;-) But just going black/dying completely in the middle of the night while on the charger is simply unacceptable to me- thank God I didn't miss anything crucial by missing my alarm... I just feel like I should be able to depend on that for an alarm at a very minimum!!

IPhone 14 Pro Max.

Thank you for your helpful advice there. I also went to bed last night and my phone was fine. I woke up to no alarm picked up my phone and it was dead tried everything nothing will bring it back. Then my friend looked up and found this solution this morning. And it worked right off the bat. So thank you again for doing that I thought for sure it was the battery or the motherboard.

This is evidently not a good place to post these concerns to Apple as I have YET to see them address it- just keep getting alerts when the next poor person takes the time to post that this happened to them as well...

This is a MAJOR purchase for many of us- and such an expensive device it seems shouldn't have such a major issue (to us at least!) be completely ignored by the manufacturer- ESP something SOOO popular that has made said company billions ;-) ?!?!

Apple???? Any updates on WHY this is happening on new phones?? How to avoid in future?? HELLO???

where else to post??? I don't feel like personally spending a day trying to communicate with them directly right now- way too busy but this is ON their website?!? You are gonna tell me that with such a huge tech company that NO ONE is monitoring issues on their community forums??

Very disappointing.... esp when they DO have some serious competition- tells me, as a customer, that you don't care about me- that I already paid for your phone and you know I'll not be replacing it over a 'resolved' issue.....

BUT when it comes time TO replace it- I WILL remember how you ignored multiple posts by your customers that were quite upset over their brand new phone just dying in the middle of the night and leaving many of us who depend on it for an alarm clock left to oversleep the next am....

?!?!

Ugh...

My wife’s iPhone 14 Pro Max did the latest firmware update and the next morning it was dead. It had been on a charger overnight. I put it on another charger that I tested and let it charge hours. I have tried all recommended methods to turn it on but it remains dead! Is there a secret method to turn it on. I have the iPhone 14 Pro that also did the firmware update but as of this posting is working a well as the iPhone 14 Pro can. I’m holding my breath.

Is Apple taking ANY responsibility for this problem or will they do as usual and ignore it?
