Changing to English (United Kingdom) in settings worked instantly and fixed it. The Siri feature was not been working at all for several weeks prior and would give the "Something went wrong" error every time. This is for a new-gen SE.

Went to Settings -> Siri & Search -> Language -> English (United Kingdom)

I got Siri working again.

I joined this group just to address this issue. iI won’t keep you waiting. Here is the action that finally solved the problem. Then I’ll tell you the symptoms and what I tried…

upgrading to version 18.0.1 fixed it.

I have an iPhone 11

All of a sudden Siri couldn’t do anything.

Siri what time is it? “Ding ding ding something went wrong try again later.”

Some Symptoms:

When using Car Play with Google Maps, the radio would no longer automatically diminish the volume when Siri came on with directions.

Siri would say ”Something went wrong etc. etc.” when asking Siri to play music and she wouldn’t play anything.

What I tried:

Changing voice to American from British.

Updating to all prior versions of software.

i tried every suggestion I could find online.

Nothing worked except as above, updating to 18.0.1

Siri is back. She tells time and plays music. I won’t get a chance to check Car Play until tomorrow but I’m optimistic.

Good luck to all of you…

***Solution***

The old Siri menu doesn't work. You may not have noticed a new menu called 'Apple Intelligence & Siri' found just under 'General' in settings. When I opened 'Talk & Type to Siri' the 'Off' option was ticked. I chose one of the options and closed. It still didn't work, but when I went into 'Language' which is the option just above 'Talk & Type to Siri'; and changed the language from 'English (Australia)' to English '(United Kingdom)' It worked straight away. So I would say that there are a combination of things that need doing as there seems to still be a programming issue.

  1. Check Siri is 'on' in the new menu
  2. Change to language to 'English (United Kingdom)
  3. Ensure your phone is updated (at the time of this post my version was 18.3.2

Hope this helps .

Ok so this has a been a problem for the last few months for me. I try to access Siri and she will say things like “ uh huh “ or “ still trying “. I would see this circle spinning the entire time and then it would say “ error please try again “. Sometimes it would open and then immediately close on its own. I tried resetting Siri and that did nothing. So today I was reading where people said to change the language to English UK. I reset Siri yet again and this time I changed the language. To my surprise it’s actually working
