The Apple watch series 8 shows the incorrect distance in open water swimming. I talk with apple support and did a complete setup still the issue is same.
The 750 meters distance is shown as 320meters in the apple watch, If we use walking option in a workout app for swimming purpose then it shows 850meters distance of same round.
The 5km distance is shown as 2.24km in the apple watch
No GPS Tracking so no use of GPS Facility.

I wish to use GPS, I always swim in open water and I want the geographical distance. The swimming competition are not available as per arm movements, and what I do with stroke distance?

Open Water Swim: GPS will only provide distance when you do a freestyle
stroke. Water may prevent a heart rate measurement, but calories will
still be tracked using the built-in accelerometer.

I all times use only free style. Never expect such a worse suggestion.
Since you did not use GPS the swimming distance is based on arm movement and what distance is covered by by each stroke varies greatly from person to person.
Have you used the watch for pool swims? I ask since maybe that might provide data on stroke distance.
