The download for my Iphone through my macbook gets stuck

When I plug in my iphone into my macbook, it says it is downloading one item but then it gets stuck and won't complete.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

iOS update for macOS stuck downloading My iMac said in order to sync my iPhone 13pro to iMac that I needed to download an app. I clicked on install, the progress bar appeared with a picture of an iPhone "Downloading 1 item" and since then nothing has happened. Progress bar started but has not moved in over an hour with no progress. Also, I have already tried rebooting both my Mac and my iPhone.

macOS Catalina "iPhone update" download FROZEN I connected my iPhone XR to my 27" 2019 iMac running Catalina and got the message "software update is required to connect to iPhone" as per this - If your Mac says that a software update is required to connect to iPhone or iPad - Apple Support On clicking INSTALL - it started "downloading"- but has never ended - for hours. No progress bar - no indication anything is happening. This pop up progress bar leads me the think it was just a little patch - not anything big? So it should be very quick. After a while I unplugged the iPhone - replugged it - no difference. Next, I'll reboot the iMac to get rid of it. Any idea what the issue is/was?

Thanks! When I go into my mac book opening preferences then network it shows the iphone being unconnected then connected and jumping back and forth. Very strange!
