AOL app password GENERATOR no longer working - 10-9-2022 and earlier

For the past 5 weeks, I have been having the same problem trying to generate the app password for an old verizon.net email account. It is awful customer relations as it seems AOL could easily remove the requirement of the app password until they fix the functionality. They appear to have no interest in doing so.

Prior to abandoning AOL and the verizon.net email address, does anyone have a workaround?

Tested it today and it is working great ! All my emails are coming across and I can reply with my new outlook address . Hopefully soon I can get rid of my email but its been with me for many years too so sad to see it go but it is what it is ! Hope it works for you as it does for me !

Worked for the first time since 10/9/2022 just now for Windows Mail. I just prefer having all my email boxes in one place, so this is a relief. Plus I had no signature for my work email since 10/9/2022, so that's a good thing. It does kick out occasionally, so this is likely to be a problem again in the future.

You are too nice! I am on the correct page but under NEW MAIL is INBOX STYLE and no FORWARDING anywhere......see I AM cursed, for sure! :) :) :) :) :) :)

At least now I am SURE of it instead of just guessing! :) :) :) :)

OMG I’ve been trying for two days, a bazillion times, to figure this out and, while reading the comments from my fellow AOL and other sufferers, I just this minute tried … AND IT WORKED! I can now receive my AOL (formerly Verizon) email on my iPad. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

I worked with a client yesterday and was able to generate one app password and then it stopped working when I tried to create another app password for a second verizon email account. I have the same issue today with another client. This is a real problem. I hate Verizon and AOL both. I been trying all day today with no luck.

I bought a new MacBook and the Migration Assistant refused to transfer over my mail passwords. I'd had an app password, but I can't find where I wrote it down. Tried to generate a new one, and "Sorry, this feature is not available right now!" Tried every day for several days now without success.

It certainly begs the question as to what or who controls the on/off valve that results in short-lived success.

Your post gave me a mental image of some drunk guy at AOL flicking a switch up and down while giggling.

Interestingly I have no issue accessing my AOL accounts via my Ipad or my android phone except I cannot add new ones. With my Windows Laptop the need for an app password seems to work sometimes and then stops working. I guess AOL is trying to get everyone to use the AOL app or website to access emails which is not as handy as having them on the system mail app of the device you are using. Profit rules again when will the world ever learn

Does anyone have any recent updates? I just got a new MacBook Pro and without knowing this issue, uninstalled my Microsoft Outlook and tried to reinstall it on the new machine - everything worked, of course, except for transferring the AOL account over. I've tried all the suggestions listed here with no luck. So frustrating :/

Recently tried setting up my old Verizon email account in Windows Live Mail on a new laptop and ran into the same issue. Following in hopes of hearing some good news about the app password generator working in the near future.

I had a small window where the generator worked but I had to keep generating passwords as they would fail daily. It is now , yet again, unavailable and I have been told, they are working on it. Totally unacceptable.
