Network folders added to Finder 'Favourites' sidebar disappear after restart

Dear community,

I'm having an issue on one of my Macs' where my added 'favourites' network folders disappear from Finder's sidebar. On MacBook Pro M1 (Monterey 12.6) these have persisted since December 2021 where as on the new MacBook Air M2 (Monterey 12.6) they disappear after restarting the computer.

Has anyone else experienced this and has found a way to fix it?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.6

Hi klemen95,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you may be referring to shared folders in Finder. If so, first, try the following steps from the 'Reconnect to recent servers' section of Connect your Mac to shared computers and servers - Apple Support.

"On your Mac, do any of the following:

  • Choose Apple menu > Recent Items, then choose from the list of recent servers.
  • In the Finder , choose Go > Connect to Server, click the pop-up menu to the far right of the Server Address field, then choose a recent server.
  • Add shared computers, network areas, and workgroups to the Finder sidebar. Select the item, then choose File > Add To Sidebar.
  • Add a shared computer or server to your list of favorites. In the Finder, choose Go > Connect to Server, enter the network address, then click the Add button ."

Also, make sure that they have not been hidden as mentioned in Customize the Finder toolbars on Mac - Apple Support. "Position the pointer over the section heading until the Hide ˇbutton or the Show > button appears, then click the button."

If that's not quite what you're looking for or the same continues, please let us know exactly what it is you're trying to do.

Have a great day!
