Lost my iMac in Hurricane Ian
Our house was hit with a 8ft storm surge. My iMac was submerged & is dead. Is there anyway I can retrieve the items on my old desktop?

Not likely unless you had an external HD with backup. If the computer was submerged then the HD was too which likely killed it. You can try data recovery services however prices start in the 5 figures to get some of your data back.

Oh wow' sorry to hear about your loss of property and iMac.
Did you happen to have and grab up a backup drive when you evacuated?

If they are SSD's you are much more likely to get the data, but as said, it will be expensive.
I'm so sorry to hear about this!
+1 on exploring hard disk recovery options.
However, if you haven't already, moving forward, you may want to store all your files and photos in iCloud so you always have your files stored off-site:

Thank you! Unfortunately my two external HD's were submerged too. We didn't think we were going to get hit or I would have brought everything with me.
