How do I get back to the phone screen? If I am in a call and switch to look at my calendar, I may want to go back to that phone call screen. For example - to hang up! Or to turn on speaker. How do I do that?J

Looking at the support page I posted (section "Use another app while on a call", point #2) it says "To return to the call, tap the green call indicator at the top of the screen".
You're right, this could be better explained in detail, as the situation varies depending on the iPhone model you are using.
In fact in the old models with the home button (i.e. 6s, 7, 8), all the status bar at the top turns green, while in the more recent models (model X or later) there is the notch, therefore only on the left (where the time is indicated) turns green.

Thank you. There is helpful information there, but it did not answer the question I had. The problem was I switched to view my calendar and then couldn’t find how to get back to the phone to turn on speaker.
i asked a friend who had an iPhone and she pointed to the upper left corner of the screen where there was a green oval around the time. Normally that corner displays time in black and white.
as a new user, I was frustrated. How was I Supposed to know that that the time display had turned green meant that I had the phone active and swiping that down would bring it back? Not at all intuitive as I had heard Apple was. But now I know.
