Cannot add BofA debit card to macOS Wallet.

macOS will not let me add my Bank of America debit card to Wallet.

It complains that there has been a change in startup volume security settings. I checked them and they are set to the highest level. I suspect this is just another in the countless array of sickening Apple bugs.

I can add it to iOS and iPadOS.

Is anyone else seeing this.

I took all the steps you mentioned (several times) and for a couple months of trying nothing worked.

Then yesterday, I set the startup volume to use reduced security, rebooted, then set the startup volume to use full security and rebooted again.

After rebuilding the security settings array it is working again (for now). No one at Apple suggested trying this. I figured the problem and it’s solution out without Apple assistance.

One way or the other, the problem is/was Apple software, as usual. And I don’t mind telling you I am sick of Apple software bugs.

Hi ricfromkennewick,

The steps in this article may hep with adding your card to Wallet: If you can't add a card to Apple Wallet to use with Apple Pay

1. Check that you're able to use Apple Pay:
• Contact your card issuer to see if they support Apple Pay.
• Update to the latest version of iOS or iPadOSwatchOS, or macOS.
• Make sure that you are in a supported country or region.
• Check that your device is compatible with Apple Pay.
2. Check for services outages or connection issues.
3. If you see the message "Could Not Add Card" or "Invalid Card," contact your bank or card issuer.

Apple does not approve or decline cards for use with Apple Pay. If your card was declined, contact your bank or card issuer.

If those steps don't help, try testing the issue in safe mode to see if you can add the card to Wallet. This will start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks and prevents some software from automatically loading or opening, which could help narrow down the cause of the issue. This article will walk you through the steps: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Apple silicon

1. Shut down your Mac.
2. Turn on your Mac and continue to press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window.
3. Select your startup disk, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking “Continue in Safe Mode.”
4. Log in to your Mac. You might be asked to log in again.

Intel processor
1. Turn on or restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key as your Mac starts up.
2. Release the key when you see the login window, then log in to your Mac.
3. You might be asked to log in again. On either the first or second login window, you should see ”Safe Boot” in the upper-right corner of the window.

Best regards.
