Lighting to HDMI Adapter not working with iPhone XS Max and iOS 16.0.2

I upgraded my iPhone XS Max to iOS 16.0.2 and my Lightning to HDMI Adapters are no longer functioning properly. Every adapter either displays a picture without sound, lags horribly without any sound whatsoever, or it gives me sound without picture. I have attempted to override/fix the issues by restarting my phone, installing and reinstalling my video apps, offload and reinstalling all video apps, and checked all my accounts for each as well as all the video and audio settings for each, all without any successful resolution. I’ve tried a total of 6 Lightning to HDMI Adapters and all provided the same results. At $50/adapter it is quite frustrating to know Apple technology on an Apple device does not work nor has a work around/fix AND these issues remain acknowledged by Apple.

Hey there WonGR8ChefsWife,

We have a few things to try for getting your iPhone working as before with those adapters:

  1. You mentioned having iOS 16.0.2, but the latest version is iOS 16.0.3. Here's a link that'll show how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.
  2. While you mentioned also deleting/downloading video apps, we still also recommend making sure that all apps are up to date: How to manually update apps on your Apple device
  3. If the issue remains, we also recommend backing up your iPhone, then resetting all settings. This will reset the settings, but will not delete any content saved to your iPhone. This can be done by going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.
  4. If the issue remains after trying the steps above, we recommend letting Apple Support know what's been tried, and they'll be in the best position to assist further: Get Support

Cheers.

Also having the same issue. There is a firmware update that briefly flashes m. Only streaming that works at the moment is Crunchyroll and Netflix. HBO can work after many attempts, restarts, unplugs, and plug ins. Prime no audio and lags. Hulu no audio. Whatever was done in 16 has broken it for most streaming apps. Would be nice if they fixed it. I have updated to the latest software patch too. It had no affect and all my apps are up to date.

Well, bruno75, here we are in November and guess what? SAME ISSUES! I‘M

even completely updated to iOS 16.1 with ZERO changes in using the lightning connector. Stalling/hiccuping with zero sound. C’mon Apple!!! You designed, built, and sell this adapter cord. What the heck? You can’t allow users to utilize your $50 accessories now? I live in a rural, remote area where using this connector is the only viable option. PLEASE GET THIS CORRECTED IN AN UPDATE ASAP.
