Apple Hdmi adapter

After the latest update on my SE 2020 iphone, ios 16.1.1 my Apple hdmi to lighting video adapter will no longer work correctly. What it does is pause every millisecond on the video and has no sound while trying to use Prime Video, Paramount plus, or any other streaming service. I have tried other adapters I have and all do the same thing. I have an Iphone 7 and everything streams ok on it. Any ideas

Hi 0losttreasure,

Since the issue occurs when different adapters are connected to the device, let's see if the same issue occurs when the charger is connected. This will let us know if there is an issue with the actual port on your device. If you are experiencing an issue when charging, then let's complete the steps listed here: If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support that are also listed below.

" 1. Check your charging cable and USB adapter for signs of damage, like breakage or bent prongs. Don't use damaged accessories.

Lightning to USB and a USB-C wall adapter

2. Use a wall power outlet and check for firm connections between your charging cable, USB wall adapter, and wall outlet or AC power cable, or try a different outlet.

3. Remove any debris from the charging port on the bottom of your device, then firmly plug your charging cable into your device. If the charging port is damaged, your device probably needs service.

4. Let your device charge for a half hour.

5. If your device is still unresponsive, force restart your device:

  • iPhone 8 or later and iPhone SE (2nd generation): Press and quickly release the volume up button. Press and quickly release the volume down button. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPod touch (7th generation): Press and hold both the side (or top) button and the volume down button until the Apple logo appears.
  • iPhone 6s or earlier, iPhone SE (1st generation), and iPod touch (6th generation) or earlier: Press and hold both the side (or top) button and the Home button until the Apple logo appears.

6. Let your device charge for another half hour.

7. If your device still won't power on or charge, take your device, charging cable, and charging adapter to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for evaluation. You can also contact Apple Support. "

Best regards.

Thank you for your reply however the problem is not with charging, after the update the apple adapter model A1438 will no longer operate properly as described in my first post. The problem is not with the adapter but whatever the update changed on my phone. I have another adapter and it does the same thing on it, however I have 2 other Iphones (a 7 and SE 1st gen.) and they work fine with the adapter. My Iphone SE 2nd generation worked fine with the adapter before the update.

I contacted apple support with the same exact issue. They told me it was a problem between the iOS 16 and the streaming platforms from all the other companies like Hulu, Netflix, Discovery, Prime. They basically told me to call all those companies and report the problem to them…😏 I asked why apple and those companies couldn’t work together to figure out the problem. He said that’s not how it works and those companies didn’t do their homework looking for comparability issues when they had the beta program. Very irritating to those of us with bad internet options and stream tv with HDMI. So discouraging to pay a lot for a new phone and have issues like that.
