Question

"iso" or "pkg" Mac OS installers

Hiii. Gurus!

1 quick question :

For testing Apps, I used to install the latest OS on the primary Disk and the older version OS on the secondary disk.

i used to download " Mac OS Installer Apps" to the Applications Folder

and created USB-flash-drive-based Bootable Disks. Reboot and install to

the secondary disk.

I never tried, without reboot, to use "iso" or "pkg" installers directly install onto the secondary disk.

Would that be doable or safe or applicable?!?!

I have not tried, and I don't think it would work, because the process involves at least one restart, and once you do that, the disk image is no longer mounted. I'd stick with the usb thumb drive.

What are the 'PKG' installers for?

I have seen installers in .pkg format for some applications or other software but never for an OS.
