Edit pin in iMessages

I didn’t understand what “edit pin” did/does in iMessages. I pushed it , then selected my mom, my most important iMessage thinking I could pin her to top. I touched the yellow pin and suddenly Mom’s photo just got big with a minus sign in a circle. This is when I realized I have no idea what it was for and There was no cancel button. So now I just have a big icon totally different than all the other iMessages. I thought I was going to be able to keep her pinned to the top. Now I fear my iMessages won’t work or sync between devices. Can anybody help me to understand what the edit in is intended for and if it wasn’t as I wanted, how can I get my Mom’s iMessages pinned again?

Hello at the inlet,

Pinning a conversation just moves it to the top of the Messages window with a big contact picture. You can keep up to 9 people pinned up there.

If you're looking to pin a conversation just go into the Messages app, then from the list of message threads tap and hold on the one you want to pin and select Pin.

If you're looking to remove a conversation from the pinned section at the top, just tap and hold on the contact photo and select Unpin.

Use Messages on your iPhone or iPad (Check out the Pin important Conversations section)

Cheers!
