Stateful Firewall Install Stuck

For the past 3 days my laptop has been showing "install in progress" for Stateful Firewall and appears to be stuck with 1 min remaining and running packages scripts. I have been unable to shut down or restart my laptop unless turn off the laptop by holding down the power button. I have tried to quit and force quit the install in progress, but after i force quit and try to shut down laptop, it pops back up that my laptop cannot shut down because an install is in progress.

Is there something else I can do to fix this?

Hi...Ive had the same issue over last few days. I downloaded and ran 'Find Any File' and then analysed the list of files found with 'StatefulFirewall' in the name....it showed there were files associated with McAfee. Ive uninstalled McAfee and the problem seems to have gone away.

Hi ash8895,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. You've done a great job trying to stop the installation process for this app. We recommend that you force the Mac to turn off and see if you can quit the installation in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your Mac to run certain checks, remove caches, and prevent login items from automatically launching. This can isolate possible third party issues. Use the steps and information in the following resource for assistance with safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

Let us know the results. Be sure to include specific error messages and any other steps that you may have tried.

Cheers!

Thank you so much! It worked! I had the same problem: I installed Mcafee 2 years ago and the plan was ending this month, and out of nowhere, a stateful firewall app prohibited me from shutting down. Coincidentally I could also see that Mcafee needed an update which I was not super excited about. The faulty file made me think that 'Oh Mcafee plan ended and now I have a virus, maybe I should pay and update it"

Wrong! Those Mf'ers almost had me.
