Change Apple ID Alias email

My sign in to iCloud is an email address at a private domain, I also have an iCloud email address (the free one that Apple offer with the iCloud account) that I use mostly for testing purposes.

Recently I've been receiving spam at the iCloud address which makes me think it's not that secure.

I cannot find a way to remove or edit the iCloud address.

If I use the "Reachable at" option on the ID site it does not offer me the option to modify the address.

Since I no longer consider the address secure I want to remove it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Peter

You're welcome, Peter. Thank you for your reply, and screen-shot!

Sorry to say it seems that once set up, the primary @iCloud e-Mail address can not be changed or removed

(You can use it to sign in to iCloud.com and your devices in addition to your Apple ID).

Add and manage email aliases for iCloud Mail on iCloud.com – Apple Support

says (at the bottom):

"Note: You can’t delete or turn off a primary iCloud Mail address.

You can’t use an alias to create a separate Apple ID,

and an email alias can’t be converted to a primary iCloud Mail address."

You could try reaching out to the iCloud Support Team about the spam situation.

(I don't know if they can do anything to help, though)

Thank you for that, it’s very helpful.

Having gone to the Preferences pane it looks like the email account in question is not an alias as you can see from the screenshot, although it is not my Apple ID that I use to sign in to iCloud.

When I first set up my iPhone I had the opportunity to set up a free iCloud address which is what this one is.

If you can help me change it I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks,
