A friend of mine gave me some AirPods, all of a sudden I am getting messages that say something about being tracked by previous owner. I don’t know what to do!?

is there any way of finding the owner??

Remove these from their Account:

Your friend needs to remove these from their Apple Account. If they don't, then they'll keep see you where these are, making this a privacy concern.

Show this to your Friend:

  1. Go Here: If an Item or Device is Connected to Another Apple ID - Apple Support
  2. Scroll toll: "How to remove AirPods or another Find My network device from an Apple ID on Mac"

Remove These:

Have you're frond's mother-in-law remove these from her Apple Account. If you don't then they'll keep being tracked (through the device these are connected to. AirPods are not assigned their own IP Address.
