My AirPods sound quality have gone down drastically after cleaning them with a wet wipe, how do I fix it

So long story short I cleaned my AirPods with a wet wipe, thinking it would do the job (it did) but now when I want to listen to music, the sound quality is VERY quiet, I’ve tried the volume settings, the decibel setting but nothing will work! The only other thing I can think of is the amount of notifications I was getting about how loud the music was, and that could be a reason it has gone down; if that is the reason, how can I fix it?
