Super Fast Battery drain when using Zoom App

Recently, I have attended 2-3 meetings on Zoom App through my new iPhone after switching from my older Samsung Mobile. In general, I have found the battery backup of my iPhone 13 to be good, except, when using the Zoom App. The battery drains approximately 25% for a 1.5 hr meeting which is too much for me. My phone also starts heating during the meeting. I have not faced this issue on my old Samsung mobile.

Is this issue only with the Zoom App, or other Video Calling Apps as well? Is this the fault from the Apple side or the Zoom side(cause the Zoom App runs fine on my Android phone)? When will the issue be fixed?

Hello annumittal,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We suggest making sure that the iOS version, and the Zoom app are both fully updated. The guidance needed is as follows:

Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. Choose the software update that you want to install. You can choose to stay on iOS or iPadOS 15 and still get important security updates. Or you can choose the option to upgrade to iOS or iPadOS 16."

How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

"How to manually update apps on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
  3. Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All."

annumittal,

Please try removing the Zoom app from your iPhone and reinstalling. This can help with battery performance when using Zoom. To complete this step, follow the guidance below:

  • "Remove an app from the Home Screen: Touch and hold the app on the Home Screen, tap Remove App, then tap Remove from Home Screen to keep it in App Library, or tap Delete App to delete it from iPhone.
  • Delete an app from App Library and Home Screen: Touch and hold the app in App Library, tap Delete App, then tap Delete. (See Find your apps in App Library.)"

This information is from Remove apps from iPhone - Apple Support.

Once this is done, reinstall Zoom and test. These steps will guide you: Download apps and games on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Take care.
