S3 is stuck "can't verify your watchOS update because you're not connected to the Internet"

this is the error message and the apple watch doesn't go back to the old setting. S3 is stuck at "38mm aluminum case, designed by apple". nor I can't do anything on the apple watch or phone.

on phone either i have to try to download the update or exit the update and reset. I tried both multiple times and it's above 2 messages. (i have done holding power button & crown reset but no luck)

my wife was using 12pro and S3 it was working fine, recently she got 14pro, and when she tried to pair 14pro & apple watch this issue started.

Same set up, S5 and iPhone 12pro. I've tried it with three different phones and every possible combination "fixes" on both Apple site and the web with zero luck. I'm running 16.2 on phone and trying to update to 9.2. It's pretty dumb that Apple knows this is an issue and doesn't have a fix for it. Should be able to pair phone and get the watch working then do updates. The watch was working, just not updating, then did the "unpair and pair" solution now have a useless watch since it won't pair until it updates which it won't update.

1)First, make sure that your Apple Watch is connected to the Internet—either through your iPhone, or directly via Wi-Fi or cellular.

If you're sure that your watch has an Internet connection and you still see the error, follow the steps in the next section.

  • I cant do this as S3 is stuck at "38mm aluminum case, designed by apple".

2)Restart your Apple Watch, make sure it has an Internet connection, then try updating it again.

If you still see the error, follow the steps in the next section.

  • first 2 steps i cant do since the screen is stuck at "38mm aluminum case, designed by apple".

can do 3rd step, it goes back to choose region,,language & then pair with phone and then "can't verify your watchOS update because you're not connected to the Internet"

3) Free up storage on your Apple Watch by removing any music or photos that you've synced to your watch. Then try to install the watchOS update. If you still can't update, remove some apps to free up more space, then try to update.

If you can't update after deleting media and apps, follow the steps in the next section.

  • I cant do this as S3 is stuck at "38mm aluminum case, designed by apple".

4)Unpair and update your Apple Watch

  • I cant do this as S3 is stuck at "38mm aluminum case, designed by apple".

5)Restore from backup

  • I cant do this as S3 is stuck at "38mm aluminum case, designed by apple".

That’s really bad. If it’s a known issue since oct 21 and they haven’t fixed it seems like they want us to upgrade to new watch. I’m surprised Apple would do such thing. It’s like arm twisting us to upgrade.

I had some hope when the apple support said their team is aware of this issue would release a fix.

If they haven’t done it yet seems like their priority is somewhere else.
