My Apple Watch Series 3 is stuck on "Preparing" when I try to update to iOS 8.7.1
It's been 3 days since I've been unsuccessful with this update. My watch is reset to factory, I have storage, good wi-fi connection, and it's charging. My iPhone is up to date on software and my watch is now unusable. Please help!
After speaking Apple Support it no possibility to update and pair the watch for next time. The bug is already known, but nobody can say when and if one update will come. Its really more that no OK, that a watch which was sold still this year is not working and Apple don't have solutions ;)

OK.....Next step is to reach out to Apple Support. Use the Get Support button at the top of his page or schedule a visit to the Apple Store Genius Bar for in-person help.
Spent an hour with Apple phone support but no luck. Heading to the Genius Bar next.
I have this same issue. Keep us updated on your genius bar experience. My nearest genius bar is 45 minutes away.
Apple store told me that the watch is useless now and it won’t pair anymore. Please let me know if genius bar was helpful for anyone else.
iPhone is updated to 16.1, still preparing for more than 3 hrs now. Anything I can do other than going to apple support..

Hi, so Apple has fixed both my series 3. No charge. I suggest you all goto a store if possible.
Yes, my watch was sent away to their repair center to force the update onto the watch. Luckily it’s a free repair for series 3 owners. Should get it back next week.
Got my watch back today. Apple installed the 8.7.1 update onto my series 3 and it works well now.
which OS you are using on iPhone ?
try to connect with 14. os on your phone - that will work
you can skip update and use a watch
but after 15+ os update not completing

what i could do
Tell them to take it into store. They fixed 2 of my series 3. I did then however then sell both and buy series 8.
