Wow to I convert word documents to Pages on my iMac?

  1. Launch Pages.
  2. In the File menu, choose Open…
  3. Use the finder window that opens to navigate to the .docx file containing the Word document you want.
  4. Select the file, then click the OPEN button in the lower left corner of the window.


Pages will translate the word document into Pages internal format, and open the document in a new window as a Pages document.


The original .docx file will not be altered.


Features used in the Word document but not supported in Pages will not be engaged in the Pages document.

PS: To save the result as a .docx document, use the Export to… item in the File menu.

The translation in this direction may also require some adjustments to cover non-supported features. Use a different file name for the export than was used for the original Word doc if you do not want to replace that original with the twice translated version.
