Apple Watch 3 will not update

My Apple Watch Series 3 will not update. I had to unpair it to fix a glitch and now it won’t link back up without an update. The error says “unable to to verify update” and then when I verify it’s on the internet, it’ll “update” for several minutes until finally making it to the “preparing” screen and ultimately getting stuck there. This has happened several times now. I have done a hard reset on both devices and my iPhone 13pro max is updated to iOS 16.
