Cannot log in to Apple tv+ family sharing

My daughter has set up family sharing for Apple TV+, Apple news, Apple Music and other Apple products. I am having difficulty logging in to Apple TV plus using family sharing. It keeps offering me a free three month trial. I am a Mac user and have an Apple ID that I use, and which it is accepting, but not allowing me to join the family sharing plan. I have tried logging out and in multiple times and I keep getting the same message with the offer of a three month free trial because I have a Samsung TV. She definitely used my apple ID email informing me of the family sharing available to me.

That’s the way it should work. I did accept the invitation sent and I even saw that she has Family Sharing turned on, but when I sign in with my Apple ID and try to watch something, it still only allows me to watch if I sign up for a free 3 month trial. I think the problem may be because the Apple TV app came with my Samsung TV and the free trial is through Samsung. I am going to delete the AppleTV app that came with the TV and try to install the Apple TV app from Apple. I hope that solves the problem and if it does, I will come back here to report that one way or another. Thanks for your suggestions.

When the ‘organizer’ (your daughter) did send an invitation to Family Sharing, then you (and other prospective group members) were asked to react to that, by accepting or declining that invitation. That is the only joining you have to do for all of the shared services. If successfully completed, then you should see the Family Sharing group in System Preferences on the Mac (or iPhone or iPad), including which services are available to you now.

At least one group member must subscribe to these services, for the group to have access to these services.

If Apple TV+ is shared with you, then sign in to the Apple TV app on any of your devices, using the same Apple ID account as used to join the Family Sharing group. Then access to the Apple TV+ subscription content is automatically authorized.

To sign in to the Apple TV app on a smart TV, find the in-app Settings (sprockets wheel icon).

Apple cannot help. Samsung cannot help. My only option is to sign up for the three month free trial and then cancel it. My big concern is that it might mess up the payment for family sharing because I’ll pay for it through Apple. This is way harder than it has to be. Samsung should have the option to opt out of a free trial. the other option is for me to put a fire stick or a Roku box on this TV and access Apple TV through those, but I am unwilling to do that.
