White square cursor and weird background

About 2 or 3 times a year I have a bug when I wake my MacBook Pro from sleep. The cursor looks like a white square and the background looks like pixels. The first time I noticed this problem was about the first week after buying a MacBook (in 2018). The problem is solved literally in 5 seconds, so it doesn’t really bother me. However, I wonder why this thing happens.

I can't think of anything that would cause that anomaly other than some kind of obscure hardware fault. If it's been happening since that Mac was new, it's probably harmless and unlikely to get any worse.

Restart that Mac in "Safe Mode": How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support. Use it for a few moments in that mode, then restart normally (not "Safe Mode"). Safe Mode performs a number of cursory actions that have been known to resolve odd problems. Since it happens so seldom, you might not know if it did anything beneficial for another year or two.
