USB-C headset issue with Mac Book Pro 16 Inch

Hi

I'm having MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2021). When ever I plug in any USB-C headset it will take at least 2+ minutes to detect by the system. I have seen same issue has been posted by few other users in different support boards. The only solution I have came across is just simply wait for few minutes.

I'm wonder if there is any new solution since this has been reported for more than one year plus.

Any help to detect the USB-C headset is very much appreciated.

Hey there Jayanath_Fernando,

That is a strange issue to occur, and we'd like to help get it working as expected by ruling out some possible causes:

  1. You mentioned that it does eventually show as a sound output in the Sound preferences after two minutes, but has this always occurred with the headset? If not, let us know when this first began to occur.
  2. If you tested the same headset with another compatible device besides your Mac, what occurs?
  3. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart. Check out the section 'Restart' here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
  4. We see you have macOS 12.2 installed, but the latest version is macOS 12.6. This link will show how to first back up, then Update macOS on Mac.
  5. What brand of USB-C headset are you using?
  6. Is it being directly plugged into a USB-C port on your Mac, or is it first going into an adapter/hub before connecting to your Mac?

Cheers.
