AirPods Pro 2 sound issue (treble fluctuates)

Is anyone else experiencing a strange fluctuation in the treble sound of their AirPods Pro 2? My headphones are going from a more muffled sound to a more trebled sound periodically. It seems random and intermittent. Sometimes I'm moving, and sometimes I'm still.

I have done resets and tried changing various settings but no change.

Is this an artefact of some sort of adaptive EQ that is overactive?

Perhaps my headphones are faulty and need replacement. I'm undoubtedly surprised if I am the only one to notice and mention a characteristic of an otherwise solid product.

That's great advice, thank you. I have tried the AirPods with my computer and my partner's phone and I couldn't replicate the problem. I turned off Sound Check on my phone and the problem seemed to stop. I'll keep listening without Sound Check on and see if the problem persists.

Good thinking. I have been testing using Apple Music only. I'm currently listening to YouTube music via Chrome through my MacBook Air and I haven't yet noticed the treble problem.

I just noticed that Sound Check was turned on in Apple Music on my mac. I have turned that off now and will continue to listen.

It's interesting how inconsistent the problem is. I'm quite baffled by this.

If the sounds quality of your AirPods Pro is fluctuating, let's first start to isolate this behavior by pairing the AirPods Pro with another device and see if this issue continues.

If this is only happening while the AirPods Pro are connected to one device, ensuring this device is fully updated would be the next best step as this installs security updates and bug fixes that can resolve issues like this. These articles show how to update depending on the device you are using:

• Update your iPhone or iPad

• Update macOS on Mac

If this continues to occur after updating, let us know the firmware version your AirPods Pro has installed under Settings > Bluetooth > AirPods > "i" so we can investigate this further.

You mentioned earlier that the issue was not present when you had "Sound Check" disabled on your iPhone. Are you saying that you are now having the same issue with "Sound Check" disabled?

Which iPhone do you have and what iOS is running on it?

iOS 16.1 was released today, October 24, 2022.

Please clarify the status of the issue and if anything improves after updating to iOS 16.1.

Thanks for the updating and testing.

Have you tested the treble with various apps as well? This can tell us if the treble issues can be isolated to a specific app you're using.

Hi, Judy. Yes, I'm still getting the issue with "Sound Check" disabled. I have updated my iphone 13 pro max to iOS 16.1. I have also updated my computer (MBP 13 2020) to Ventura and the issue happens when connected to that too.

I'm receiving my empty box this week so I'll send the AirPods in for checking.

I'm still getting the problem from time to time. I wonder if the problem is actually with my phone so I will keep experimenting. Perhaps I will do a full reset of my phone and see if that helps.
