Lightning to HDMI no longer working with IOS16 update

Lightning av adapter to HDMI no longer working after IOS16 update. Updated to current iOS 16.0.3 using Apple certified cord, turned off and on, phone is updated and backed up. It work until ios16. Another phone works, but not updated to the iOS16. For example Netflix mirrors from phone to tv and will play the trailer, but once I hit play the screen goes black and says now playing on your tv. But is not playing anything. How can I fix this issue? Thank you.

Not helpful at all. The update to IOS 16 is not compatible with the AV digital lightning plug. We full time RV and do not have WiFi. We depend on the AV plug adapter. We even bought a new one. My wife just purchased the new 14, she had s 6 which worked great. Our iPad worked great until we updated to the 16. Now nothing works. You all need to fix this and quick passing the buck to the other streaming platforms.

Not working after iOS 16 is bull. Number one, that wouldn’t affect screen mirroring outside of video apps. Number 2. My adaptor works fine on my wife’s phone but not mine. Including streaming video from every app I’ve tried. That’s on iOS 16.5.1(c) on both phones. The only thing I can see different between our phones is on the settings/general/about screen right under carrier lock on my wife’s phone it shows Apple digital AV adaptor with and arrow to its firmware but on my phone it doesn’t. a little device connected icon also shows up for a short time in the dynamic island. It’s obvious that something is happening to the firmware and I’m guessing like all things Apple it isn’t going to be fixed without a full reset.

I don’t know what you mean by it being Bull because it wasn’t work for me and I was streaming from any apps or video apps I was streaming from websites also mine wasn’t working when it was updated to the 16.5 update it has since updated to the 16.5.1(c) and is now working again on all my devices which means the issue must’ve be rectified by the lastest update mean it was the previous update that was the problem

I mean bull that Apple Support is telling people that the issue is a DRM issue when in fact most people are having a problem getting it to connect at all and even get mirroring if the Home Screen to work before they even get into trying to stream video. When you updated it and it apparently resolved that issue for you which that’s great but the vast majority of people aren’t even getting that relief. Nor is wiping the device and starting from scratch working for many people. Seeing as how I’ve got the same update as you and it didn’t resolve it for me would suggest the version of iOS is probably not important. I talked to Apple support today after I wrote my response and she thinks that I may have a bad lightening port so they want to look at it. Apparently there have been problems on the 14 and the 14 Pro Max with lightning port issues and that would track considering my phone isn’t recognizing the adaptor at all. To get anyone at Apple to even tell me that required two levels of escalation before someone there even understood the complaint. That’s kinda troubling to me and definitely falls under the definition of bull, especially considering the 11 pages of results on a Google search going all the way back to 2018 complaining about the same issue.

Ok. So this resolved the issue for me as it wasn’t a bad lightning port as Apple suspected. I don’t know what network settings have to do with the adaptor not working but resetting them has fixed the problem for me. I tried it the day after my other post at someone else’s suggestion and haven’t had a problem since. You would think tech support at Apple would know something so simple and have people trying it before sending them on wild goose chases to repair shops. Hope this helps other people resolve their problem.

What iOS version are you on? After I upgraded to 16 right after buying this phone, and discovering that the new iPad I just bought was still working because it's still on 15.x, I haven't upgraded either. Works fine on the iPad. Phone is still on 16.11. I couldn't find the steps you wrote above but I'm behind on upgrades. And I made sure auto-updates were turned off on the iPad!

It was on and iPhone and it’s resetting network settings. Apparently, that’s where the device also stores drivers for other connected devices and if they become corrupted like what appears to happen so often with the lightning to hdmi adaptor you need to do that so that it can reinstall the drivers. It’s Apple. Nothing can be straight forward or transparent. To make it even more confusing, you have to go to the screen where you reset the entire device and click on that before it will give you the different reset options which is scary. Just go to settings and then in the search box type reset network. You have two options on that screen. Tap reset. On the next screen tap reset network settings. Your going to lose any saved WiFi networks and devices like printers when you do that so make sure you know your credentials beforehand so you can reconnect.

Go to faceID/passcode and allow accessories to connect while locked and it will work fine. I ran across this from some godsent gentlemen as I was at the end of my rope. I purchased a new AV/HDMI accessory and it didn’t help. This did. I believe sometimes after updates it resets this. Anyway again

Settings*Touch ID&Passcode*Allow Access When Locked*accessories need to be switched ON

hope you find this and it’s works for you. Thanks again to the guy who post this somewhere else where I found it ✌️

bought iPhone 15 yesterday. USB-C to HDMI works fine to send images and data to a TV from PowerPoint, but when I try using my iPad Pro with the HDMI to lightening adapter the TV doesn't even recognize there is a device connected. iPad Pro was working fine until I updated to the latest iOS. Tested a known working HDMI-lightening adapter and got the same . . . nada. Tested the USB-C to HDMI adapter and it works fine using the same HDMI cord. So . . . HDMI cable is fine. Adapters are fine. iOS is not fine. What I don't understand is why the latest iOS works on the phone but not on iPad. It was very inconveneient as I had a group presentation this morning at 6am, only to find out my presentation slides would not show on the TV. My fault for updating and not testing (or updating before a presentation). For Apple, who has a reputation of 'it just works,' I, along with many others, are getting frustrated. The 'helpful' suggestions coming from Apple are anything but. Are these software roll outs not vetted prior to release? Looking forward to some kind of resolution. Meanwhile, just frustrated. Oh . . . next presentation is in two days. Open to solutions.

my iPhone 13 Pro was working fine with my brand new lightning adapter while I was on version 16.4. I bought the brand new lightning adapter this summer because I had some intermittent issues during the spring. Apple blamed my old TV or my Amazon/Netflix movie provider. when I downloaded 17.0.3 the TV won’t even recognize that the adapter is plugged in anymore. Can’t stream anything. The adapter works perfectly with the exact same TV, adapter and cables with my wife’s iPhone 13 Pro Max but she is on iOS 16.4. Apple broke my functionality with iOS 17.0.3 and most of the time will not admit it in most of these articles. Please return the functionality I paid for. This is a huge functional loss.
