Lightning to HDMI no longer working with IOS16 update

Lightning av adapter to HDMI no longer working after IOS16 update. Updated to current iOS 16.0.3 using Apple certified cord, turned off and on, phone is updated and backed up. It work until ios16. Another phone works, but not updated to the iOS16. For example Netflix mirrors from phone to tv and will play the trailer, but once I hit play the screen goes black and says now playing on your tv. But is not playing anything. How can I fix this issue? Thank you.

Not helpful at all. The update to IOS 16 is not compatible with the AV digital lightning plug. We full time RV and do not have WiFi. We depend on the AV plug adapter. We even bought a new one. My wife just purchased the new 14, she had s 6 which worked great. Our iPad worked great until we updated to the 16. Now nothing works. You all need to fix this and quick passing the buck to the other streaming platforms.

i have a iPad Pro 11.

My HDMI adapter cable no longer works since upgrading to IOS 16.2+

IT also refuses to work with the latest 16.3.1 versions.

The HDMI cable DOES work on my iPad mini, using IOS16.2

i think this proves IOS 16.3.x has a bug preventing the proper operation of the HDMI adapter cable.

will apple please get this fixed.

Plug in the adapter. You should see a message stating that firmware needs to be installed before the accessory can be used. Wait a few minutes. Cycle power on the phone. Connect the cable again and sharing of the iPhone and basic apps should work. Then try your streaming apps. I just did this and Xfinity, Netflix, HBO Max, etc. are all working as expected.

Unfortunately, apple has rendered any aftermarket HDMI Cable as completely useless, as the installed software on the phone will NOT recognize any non-genuine apple product. I have confirmed this with the purchase of multiple aftermarket options, with no result or response from the phone/ipad. Once you purchase the Apple Certified HDMI Cable and plug it in, it will immediately prompt the user with a message that states "Downloading Firmware", and once its completed, you can enjoy seamless HDMI streaming to any device, from any screen or application on your phone, with sound.

*This applies to Apple's most recent update 16.4.1 on iPhone 13 ProMax

I drive a rig as well and this change in policy will send me back to Samsung. Switching back to my Note20 5G Ultra to make sure the Dex app still works. If it does I’ll never buy another Apple product mine are all paid for and I was about to trade in my iPhone 12 until this issue came up…. Crazy marketing not compatible with my mobile life.

I had problems watching movies from my IPhone 12. I never had problems before with my older Apple phone. I had bought a newer but not expensive HDMI cable. When I would plug it in to my phone to Cast say for example Netflix it wouldn’t work. I called Apple they were trying to assist me. When I thought about the HDMI cable I bought. When I plugged it in it always said it wouldn’t work until the firmware was done updating. I could never find any firmware anywhere. I decided to try another HDMI cable that came with my DVD player and to my amazement I seen my phones screen on the TV. The quality or something with the HDMI made a difference not sure why. Try a different HDMI cable maybe a slightly better quality.

@J_Johnnyboy, please do not reply if you cannot help.

As long as people don't violate the terms of use, they are allowed to post, even if you disagree with them. Not to mention which, telling Apple employees they can't post in an Apple forum sounds unlikely to have the effect you intend. Ignore posts that don't help you.

If you have information that may help, by all means, post it.
