Lightning to HDMI no longer working with IOS16 update

Lightning av adapter to HDMI no longer working after IOS16 update. Updated to current iOS 16.0.3 using Apple certified cord, turned off and on, phone is updated and backed up. It work until ios16. Another phone works, but not updated to the iOS16. For example Netflix mirrors from phone to tv and will play the trailer, but once I hit play the screen goes black and says now playing on your tv. But is not playing anything. How can I fix this issue? Thank you.

I have a similar problem...with most of my streaming apps. Using the lightning to HDMI adaptor works fine for screen mirroring, such as using google, or photos, static content, but not for video. I've read recently that there are quite a few people with similar issues. Most of my streaming apps play, but are choppy, and have no audio. It seems this happened after I upgraded to an iPhone 14, and ios16. Everything worked great previously, iPhone 11, ios15.7. Help?

Out of 3 phones trying the same HDMI to lightening cord the iPhone 13 everything updated, YouTube streams great, Hulu we get picture no sound, Netflix just a black screen. All of these worked before the ios16’s using the same tv/cord setup. The other iPhone 13 that has not been updated to iOS16’s still works great using all the same apps and cord. The iPhone 13 Pro Max everything updated and everything works using the same tv/cord setup. Unfortunately the person with the iPhone 13 do not have internet to stream and are using their phone to mirror to be able to stream. Any other suggestions on what to try? I’ve read other complaints about this same issue when updating to the ios16’s updates. Thank you.

I took a day off work to drive an hour and a half to the nearest Apple Store, spent hours working with a few employees, and left with no solution as to why iOS 16 no longer works with the Apple Lightning AV adapter while using it with certain streaming apps. Not to mention I’ve spent hours on the phone with apple phone support, apple chat, and wasted time driving to an Apple-certified Best Buy that didn’t even connect my phone to the Lightning AV adaptor to see that it no longer works. I’ve had an iPhone since 2009, but this is my last apple product after this experience.

Not helpful at all. The update to IOS 16 is not compatible with the AV digital lightning plug. We full time RV and do not have WiFi. We depend on the AV plug adapter. We even bought a new one. My wife just purchased the new 14, she had s 6 which worked great. Our iPad worked great until we updated to the 16. Now nothing works. You all need to fix this and quick passing the buck to the other streaming platforms.

Holy THANK YOU for that comment. I live remote and have spent many hours and money trying to figure out what is wrong with my phone and/or device and Apple keeps blowing it off with aloof canned suggestions and responses that are totally not helpful but incredibly time taxing.

I have only know an Apple iPhone and an android sounds my only alternative.

That isn’t the case, the lightning works only with Disney plus… all other apps don’t work after using the “update” Apple screwed up with this iOS 16 and must only have some deal with Disney, the fact it only works for Disney plus and no other says there is issues with Apple and they must fix this as we all pay for these apps and now can’t watch them anymore with iOS 16 update

Not working after iOS 16 is bull. Number one, that wouldn’t affect screen mirroring outside of video apps. Number 2. My adaptor works fine on my wife’s phone but not mine. Including streaming video from every app I’ve tried. That’s on iOS 16.5.1(c) on both phones. The only thing I can see different between our phones is on the settings/general/about screen right under carrier lock on my wife’s phone it shows Apple digital AV adaptor with and arrow to its firmware but on my phone it doesn’t. a little device connected icon also shows up for a short time in the dynamic island. It’s obvious that something is happening to the firmware and I’m guessing like all things Apple it isn’t going to be fixed without a full reset.

I mean bull that Apple Support is telling people that the issue is a DRM issue when in fact most people are having a problem getting it to connect at all and even get mirroring if the Home Screen to work before they even get into trying to stream video. When you updated it and it apparently resolved that issue for you which that’s great but the vast majority of people aren’t even getting that relief. Nor is wiping the device and starting from scratch working for many people. Seeing as how I’ve got the same update as you and it didn’t resolve it for me would suggest the version of iOS is probably not important. I talked to Apple support today after I wrote my response and she thinks that I may have a bad lightening port so they want to look at it. Apparently there have been problems on the 14 and the 14 Pro Max with lightning port issues and that would track considering my phone isn’t recognizing the adaptor at all. To get anyone at Apple to even tell me that required two levels of escalation before someone there even understood the complaint. That’s kinda troubling to me and definitely falls under the definition of bull, especially considering the 11 pages of results on a Google search going all the way back to 2018 complaining about the same issue.

bought iPhone 15 yesterday. USB-C to HDMI works fine to send images and data to a TV from PowerPoint, but when I try using my iPad Pro with the HDMI to lightening adapter the TV doesn't even recognize there is a device connected. iPad Pro was working fine until I updated to the latest iOS. Tested a known working HDMI-lightening adapter and got the same . . . nada. Tested the USB-C to HDMI adapter and it works fine using the same HDMI cord. So . . . HDMI cable is fine. Adapters are fine. iOS is not fine. What I don't understand is why the latest iOS works on the phone but not on iPad. It was very inconveneient as I had a group presentation this morning at 6am, only to find out my presentation slides would not show on the TV. My fault for updating and not testing (or updating before a presentation). For Apple, who has a reputation of 'it just works,' I, along with many others, are getting frustrated. The 'helpful' suggestions coming from Apple are anything but. Are these software roll outs not vetted prior to release? Looking forward to some kind of resolution. Meanwhile, just frustrated. Oh . . . next presentation is in two days. Open to solutions.
