Hi, Geistownjohnny..... Not quite....on the Sony DIGCAM you have to put it into VTR mode, (Playback) make sure the heads in the camcorder are clean, that it is plugged into an AC Power source, and that IEEE 1394 (FireWire) mode/ is enabled/turned on, on the camcorder itself. then you'll need a 4 pin to 8 pin Firewire cable/Adapter, and if your iMac doesn't have FireWire, then a Firewire to Thunderbolt Adapter..... Make the connection between camcorder and iMac (or any Mac) when both are turned off....then start up your Mac, turn on the camcorder, put it into VTR mode, and that IEEE 1394 is enabled/turned on, then load a tape into the camcorder.... Get Final Cut pro running, then choose "Import Video" and then press play on the Camcorder and it'll do just that...please remember that importing/capturing video happens in real time, so a 60 minute tape will take...1 hour....

good luck
