How do I prevent IOS pausing music when any form of notification comes in

I often listen to music using my Iphone on headphones to help me concentrate.

For some reason, while it used to just duck the playback to let you know a notification came in, it now pauses the music which is *really* annoying.

I know there are some answers already about turning on "Do Not Disutrb" /etc, but that misses the point. I want to know that a notification came in, but I also *want* to listen to music.

I don't understand why this was changed...

This is a terrible solution. It’s not that I don’t want to be disturbed.

I just don’t want messages to be so annoying that they stop my music playing. By all means, duck it so I know it’s arrived but *keep playing the music*. And it’s worse as this will set *all* my apple devices to focus…

This product decision makes literally no sense to me. Nothing about a text message or email arriving says I should stop listening. The MacOS doesn’t do this for example…

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

Using Do Not Disturb would be the correct answer here: Use Do Not Disturb with Focus on your iPhone or iPad. If the iPhone is unlocked, you should still see these notifications that come through when Do Not Disturb is engaged.

You can also leave Product Feedback and the right team may be able to see it.

Have a fantastic day!
