Can’t take screenshot iPhone 13

I have read threads about this and have tried all the tips.

I have updated iOS - I have tried assisted touch, I have reset my iPhone completely - and still I cannot take a screenshot on my phone.

Have your tried this method and failed? If so, what exactly happens when you press the two buttons? The trick is to make sure you are using the TOP, LEFT button, not the bottom.

I have taken screenshots like that for years. When I do that now - absolutely nothing happens. I have plenty of storage on both my phone and iCloud - and have tried all suggested methods I can find
