Mail on Ventura 13.0 cannot search

I am using the new custom domain feature in cloud mail.


I have approx 800 emails and can search perfectly on my iPad, iPhone and online at icloud.com yet when I'm in the Mail app, i type a simple search phrase, and no results are found. It won't even find a word in the most recently received email.


I have

rebuild mailbox

resynced

deleted envelope files

checked all settings in spotlight

run rebuild scripts in terminal

rebooted endless times


using MBP M1


It seems to be a common issue and one that Apple as usual are ignoring - i see posts in the community going back over a year on this issue.


It would appear you cannot even log a support ticket for icloud - despite paying close to £30 a month for it.


Any ideas, anyone?

I would simply rebuild the spotlight index if you just upgraded to macOS 13 and have an issue with search.

Thanks for this, I think i had done this via terminal, but tried your drag method.


So with the HD in the exclude from spotlight search - i rebooted and the search in mail worked fast and perfectly. As soon as i removed the HD from the exclude from spotlight it stopped working and now shows no results (I've waited some time for a re index etc) - looks like were getting close to the root cause - thanks!

in Spotlight some of the indexes have been restored, mail and documents of all sorts have not. Also search in Mail does not work.

I will probably move to Outlook if this does not fix itself or is fixed anytime soon by some magic trick. Outlook has its own search / index and works independently of this mess. Its a shame, I dont understand how Apple can let this happen, spotlight is like one of the steroid features.
