Explicit song filter isn't prevent explicit songs playing!

I've got all the content settings for both my children and myself set to 'clean', however when I listed to the Apple Music playlists like 'today's hits' it still plays all the songs with explicit lyrics! What is going wrong and how can it be fixed?

Hey Em_Be,

We'd be happy to help! Sounds like you're having issues restricting explicit songs from playing on your Mac. We'd recommend working through the following steps which are best equipped to assist with this matter:

Restrict access to music-related content
1. On your Mac, do one of the following:
• If you’re using Family Sharing and are the family organizer: Log in as the administrator, then make sure you’re signed in with your Apple ID.
• If you aren’t using Family Sharing: Log in to the child’s Mac user account.
2. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Screen Time  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
3. If you’re using Family Sharing, click the pop-up menu on the right, then choose a child.
4. Turn on Screen Time.
5. Click Content & Privacy, then turn on the option if it’s not on already.
6. To manage content restrictions, click Content Restrictions, then do any of the following:
• Prevent users from creating an Apple Music profile: Below Music & TV, turn off the Allow Music Profiles option.
To learn more about Apple Music profiles and how they work, see Create an Apple Music profile.
• Prevent access to shared media libraries: Below Music & TV, turn off the Allow Music & TV Shared Libraries option.
To learn more about shared media libraries and how they work, see Share songs from a shared media library.
7. Click the Back button  to return to the Content & Privacy settings.
8. To manage store restrictions, click Store Restrictions, then do any of the following:
• Prevent access to explicit music: Below Allowed Content, turn off the Allow Explicit Music, Podcasts and News option.
• Prevent access to music videos: Below Allowed Content, turn off the Allow Music Videos option.
9. Click the Back button  to return to the Content & Privacy settings.
10. To manage app restrictions, click App Restrictions, then do any of the following:
• Prevent access to SharePlay: Below Allowed, turn off the Allow SharePlay option.
To learn more about SharePlay, see Listen together using SharePlay.
• Prevent access to the iTunes Store: Below Allowed on iOS, turn off the Allow iTunes Store option.

All this and more is available here: Restrict access to items in Music on Mac

We hope this information helps out.

Take care!
