Mail won't open after Ventura update

Is anyone else having trouble with the mail app since updating to Ventura? Every time I try to open it it closes straight away and I get the error message Mail quit unexpectedly.

I fixed the problem with Mac OS Ventura mail crashing every time I tried to open with this article followed step by step. Specifically the "Delete envelope index files" section. After deleting these in safe mode mail was restored.

I followed the advice about deleting the envelope files, com.apple.mail.plist, etc. and starting in Safe Mode to no avail. Finally, I stumbled into Settings->Privacy and Security->Full Disk Access and found that Mail access was OFF. I turned it ON and Mail started. It's currently importing my messages as I type this.

With the Mail application totally closed.

Hold the SHIFT key and launch Mail from the Applications folder

This is a Safe Launch of Mail

Still issues -- >>

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

Q - " i have this issue. Ive had some issues in the past with mail crashing but it was solved by Safe Boot. "

A - Safe Boot does several things which have already been mentioned.

A - What is not expressly mentioned is Safe Boot also Eliminates Third Party Software, extensions, drives from loading

A - That seems to be proved true based upon your computer experience quoted above.

A - May need to followup with the Developers of this specific Third Party Software for addition support.

A - Perhaps they have some update or upgrade for Ventura macOS 13 in the works ?

Download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

The application is free or paid from added features.

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

1 - Out side of the below, I see nothing that would account for this Apple Mail Crashing

2 - Can only suggest that which as already been presented and wait for the Developer's reply and hopefully a solution.

3 - It is recommended at this point of the computer problem, to open a New Question with all relevant details.

Reason, the Original Owner of this question warrants the full attention for Assistance.

Those who arrive later are welcome to offer ideas and possible solutions but beyond that, not so much

How do I reset my Mail on Mac:

  1. Open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder from the top-left menu bar.
  2. Copy and Paste ~/Library/Preferences and hit Enter.
  3. Move the com.apple.mail.plist and com.apple.mail-shared.plist to Trash.
  4. Input ~/Library/Mail/ and press Enter.
  5. Move the PersistenceInfo.plist file to Trash.
  6. Restart your Mac.

Test again. If Mail now works, you can empty the Trash. Suppose Apple Mail keeps quitting; troubleshoot the issue in Safe Mode.

I couldn't find com.apple.mail.plist....
