Upgraded to iCloud and my pictures have vanished

So I have upgraded to icloud storage. I selected the option to optimize my pictures and save space on my iphone. The result is that the space is still the same while almost all of my pictures have disappeared from my iphone. Can somebody help me with this?

Photos in icloud on PC When i sign on to icloud on my PC .. my photos on my iphone are not showing .. i checked settings and backup photos is on ?
