No haptic feedback after Ventura upgrade

Hi all,

I upgraded my 2021 16-inch MBP last night to MacOS 13, Ventura. I immediately lost almost all haptic feedback from the trackpad. It works about once every 20 clicks. Other than that the trackpad is functioning normally.

I checked the trackpad settings and nothing looked incorrect. I even unset and then reset settings to see if that would help.

Suggestions?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.0

Hi, I have got the same issue on my MacBook Air 2018 Retina when haptic feedback stopped working after Ventura update. Apple Support refuse to believe there is some bug in update however I found a video on Youtube when a guy suggested to heat up touchpad and let it cool down.

I just bought a heat gun, set on a maximum heat option, turned off Mac, started heating up touchpad for about 2 min - 2cm above continuously moving it and never let it stay on the same place.

After I turned on Mac it didn't work, then I let it cool down and its start working again. I don't know how this helped but it works.

But remember you take risk and responsibility on yourself doing this. Try to put Mac at least on a tiles, not carpet, wood or other flammable surfaces.

I normally use an Apple Magic Trackpad 2 rather than the built-in trackpad, so can't remember exactly how the latter normally feels. But the Apple Magic Trackpad 2 has certainly lost its "click" since upgrading to Ventua (and I'm not getting anything from the built-in trackpad either).

Have tried resetting NVRAM and booting into safe mode (as advised in this thread) as well as deleting preferences, resetting preferences, and turning the extrenal trackpad off and on again (as suggested for similar issues resulting from previous macOS upgrades). But, so far, nothing has helped.

Thank you for posting this. After a particularly cold night (and an inadvertently open window), my Magic Trackpad 2 stopped providing haptic feedback. I tried all of the usual steps (unpairing the trackpad, rebooting computer, etc.), and haptic feedback wasn't working on both my Mac and Windows computer. I didn't have a heat gun, but I used a hair dryer and followed your advice. Haptic feedback now works. Lifesaver!
