iOS 16.1 Lock Screen Wallpaper Display

That doesn’t help me, my wallpaper changes daily and sometimes (I haven’t figure out what triggers it - perhaps just random) turns black. Restart or just rerunning the wallpaper change automation shortcut brings it back.

You're way ahead of me. I can't get it to turn off manually no matter what I try - toggling, turning off phone w/toggle off, hard reset (toggle off), deleted 'defective' half of schedule, deleted full schedule, again hard reset - nothing. DND still on!

Yes, and I'm sure it will continue to work right up to the point where it doesn't. That's the definition of random. Unless there has been a silent update the problem still exists, it just hasn't occurred recently.

That said, it also seems to be working for me, and, I'm sure, will continue to do so until it doesn't.

I have the same problem since I installed ios 16.1: no lock screen wallpaper visible anymore after a while. After reboot the picture is there again for a while until it dissapear.

I didn't have this issue with iOS 16.0.3 (iPhone 14 Pro)

Well, I'm afraid I spoke too soon. I used the workaround proposed by @gestler and it worked for me.......for two whole days. It has now reverted to the black wallpaper again.

Does anyone know if Apple support staff read these forums?

This is an Apple forum, so perhaps someone is tracking these comments. I would guess that there is some critical point at which complaints here receive attention and begin to be worked on. Just a guess of course, but might I suggest other readers chime in if they have a similar problem?

This is happening to me too. Like others have said, it comes back for awhile, then disappears again. Apple needs to be made aware of this. Has anyone reached out to Apple. Praying it will be rectified in a future software update?? Thoughts?

Quite right, each one of us reports what has happened to ourselves. Individually we are an example of one, as is any 'fix' or 'explanation' we think we have discovered (or uncovered, etc.). That's why it is important to let Apple know the specifics of each problem; it allows them to figure out the best way of correcting the actual problem for all of us.

This doesn’t work for me bc the wallpaper and lockscreen image i have been using for years is not provided as an option. I could find the original odor and recreate it, but what a hassle.

For me, it comes and goes. Restarting phone does not bring it back, but it does reappear on its own, stays a while, then goes again. Hmm.

Apple doing something about is the assumption behind posting specifics about a problem. Apple can use the specifics to try to duplicate a problem and then fix it with software updates, user interface changes, or whatever else is necessary.

I have the same problem, on an iPhone 11 Pro. I just upgraded from 16.0 to 16.1 and my old wallpaper photo disappears when the phone goes to sleep, or sometimes even when I switch from one app to another. The proposed workaround doesn’t work for me because I no longer have the photo I use for my wallpaper.

In my long experience, Apple largely ignored these discussions. To bring a problem to Apple’s attention, post it on Product Feedback - Apple.

Giulio - - Yes, I used it and left my iOS version in the comments field (16.1). BTW: I used my official Apple user name instead of the one I use in general "community" forums (Allen Markham) - - a long-time habit that is hard to break.

I have been having the same issue, I lost my Lock Screen wallpaper after upgrading to 16.1. I spent a lot of time tweaking the photo so that it fit my screen perfectly.

As to the people who keeping suggesting we add a new lock screen, I don’t want to. I want my original Lock Screen with no widgets. Even without adding widgets, the “extra” lock screens drain my battery.

For me, a decision at this point is quite premature. Again, for me, the problem has been quite random, sometimes going for several days before showing up. For instance today - it had been working fine for maybe 4 days, but I walked upstairs and the next time I looked at the phone the screen was black. The automation opened the front door, but that was the only difference between seeing the screen when I got out of the car and arriving at my front door. For me, it will take a bit more time to declare the problem fixed - - hopefully I'll be able to do so. (Note - I've never been able to duplicate the circumstances that will force the black screen to present, it seems to be truly random).

Yes, that may work, another workable method would be to ditch my iPhone 14 Pro Max and return to Samsung (I really liked my Fold) or Pixel, but neither are solutions to the problem just ways to avoid it.
