Exporting Portrait pictures

I am trying to get my pictures from an iPhone to a pc. When I export portrait pictures I can’t open the file type on the pc. Can I convert the pictures to a different format on the iPhone or can I convert them on the PC to a JPG?

Which system version is installed on your iPhone? If you have iOS 16 installed, be sure to apply the update to iOS 16.1. It fixes some problems with transferring media from the iPhone to a computer.

If it still does not help, check the Settings > Photos on the iPhone. Scroll down all the way to "Settings > Photos > Transfer to Mac or PC"; there set the Option "Automatic". This will convert the HEIC format to a more compatible format when you transfer the Photos.
