Rice as a desiccate (to dry out) is an old wife's tale, which doesn't work with electronics. In fact, rice dust could get lodged in the charging port, which would not be good.

Keep an eye on your iPhone. If it starts to show any unusual symptoms, you'll likely need to get a replacement device. Hopefully, the minor swim will be of little consequence. I would recommend you backup your phone to ensure no loss of data, should the phone be water damaged.

I was saved by placing it in a bowl of uncooked rice 2 ½ times

first time when I fell in a lake with an iPod touch 3g and a Sony xperia

both were revived from the incident, the iPod touch still works in a dock so the batt need not be used.

later on my iPhone 4 got a red wine spill into its connector and the lower left square of the screen was red and it

said it was in headphone mode, after once more a 48hours of being in a Bowl of uncooked Rice on a heated bathroom flood the red was just a smudge, and my mum inherited it when I got an iPhone 6s until it was replaced by my dads iphone6 which she use to this day
