I connected a 27" LG UltraGear monitor to my new 16" M1 Pro

I connected a 27" LG UltraGear monitor to my new 16" M1 Pro

which I am using as my main display through the display port.

What I find a bit frustrating is that when I open a quicktime movie file (just one example)

It places the window in the lower left hand corner instead of the upper left.

Is there a way to change that, please?

Thanks!

Hello Hanuman Hoffman,

Generally, an app or file window is going to open to the same place it was located in when you last used it. With that in mind, have you tried moving your file or app window manually to the upper left corner, closing it, then reopening to see if it stays where you last had it?

Manage app windows on Mac will walk you through manually moving a window if needed.

Manually move a window: Drag the window by its title bar to where you want it. Some windows can’t be moved.

Give that a try and let us know the results.

Cheers!

Greetings Hanuman Hoffman,

Thanks for updating us with this information.

Have you confirmed that you have the latest supported macOS version installed with your MacBook Pro? If there is an update, or upgrade available, let's confirm you have backed up your Mac before installing it. For assistance with these steps, check out the following steps and more details can be located here: Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Use Software Update

Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.

1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:

• Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.

• Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.

2. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it.

Software Update windowe

3. Enter your administrator password, if asked. During installation, your Mac might restart, and you might see a progress bar or blank screen several times.

If you have the latest macOS version installed, let us know if the same happens after restarting your MacBook Pro. If it does, see if adjusting the screen size with QuickTime Player changes the results for us. You can locate steps for this here: Choose a screen size in QuickTime Player on Mac - Apple Support

We look forward to hearing more, and let us know if you have the Finder window open or a file playing when it opens at the bottom left corner.

Take care!

thanks so much!

Well...I am running latest version of Monterey OS.

I did <fit to screen> in view..

I could quit QT and it remained the same size upon reopening.

I turn off my monitor at night, while my MBP continues to run iTunes.

Upon turning it on in the morning, the video does not return to how it was situated in the lower left corner, much to my chagrin.
