Finding an Ethernet dongle which doesn't drain battery

I apologize if this question has already been asked. I have a MacBook Air (2020, M1) purchased a month ago. Yesterday I accidentally left my Ethernet adapter (an USB-A to Ethernet which I had bought for my previous laptop and which now I use with the Apple Multiport Adapter) plugged in and the battery drained from 80% to 57% while in stop. I contacted Apple Support via chat and the assistant told me the reason for the drain was probably the adapter. So now I have two questions:

(1) Would an USB-C to Ethernet adapter cause less battery drain?

(2) If so, which one should I buy? I was thinking about the Belkin one because it's sold in the Apple Store, but it's really expensive compared to others. Are the cheaper ones any good?
