Hi,

HP's support page for this USB printer only shows drivers for very old Mac OS X operating systems.

You could perhaps check whether the HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update package download from Apple would work. Look upon this as an experiment. It may or may not open/install/work. Look for something like the HP Officejet 4300 series (2.0.5) and HP Officejet 4300 series. Fax (5.17.3) drivers listed in the referenced article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support.

As always, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.

HP's website does not show the operating system.

However, if the printer supports WiFi, it may appear if it is configured on the same WiFi network of the computer, when you go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Printers, and hold the Option key, as you add the printer. If it does not show up there, connect a USB cable between the computer and printer and see if it adds with an option key that way.

See the links on this page if neither of the above works
