Apple Mail: Search for mailboxes doesn't work anymore since update to Ventura

I was hoiping Ventura would provide the fix, but apparently not yet. I tried Spark as an alternative but it lacked some things I wanted so just have to use my workaround.

BTW yes - Search works fine in icloud.

Same problem here with Ventura, I tried to rebuild the mailbox, delete the Envelope, rebuild Spotlight, Safe Mode, ... . In Siri & Spotlight, Mail & Messages is checked.

In the Window / Activity, it keep saying indexing, but it doesn't move a bit. Spotlight seems to be done indexing.

The search in mail wasn't great before, but at least it was working.

It would be nice that Apple acknowledge the problem. This release was supposed to "Boost Efficiency with New Mail Improvements". For me it's the opposite, with no search Mail, there is a big loss of productivity.

Found a solution that worked for me (enabled search in Mail and Spotlight) on Ventura 13.1. You can give it a try.

1. Turn indexing off, by opening Terminal and running this command:

sudo mdutil -a -i off /

2. Trash all Spotlight data in the folder: ~/Library/Metadata/CoreSpotlight/

3. Kill Spotlight with the Terminal command:

killall -KILL Spotlight spotlightd mds

4. Turn indexing back on with this Terminal command:

sudo mdutil -a -i on /

Yes, since updating to MacOS13 searching of any kind (Mail, Sherlock) does not work.

Have you got any solution? I have done all suggested moves and no results. Still indexing and no search solution in Mail.

If I didn't know better, I'd say this was a Windows 98 forum, rather than Apple...

I've got 13.1, still no mailbox as a search result... really a pita

I tried the stage9's advice on how to wipe out Spotlight. It did not fix mail search for me.
