Red dot on iPhone
I have recently change to sim only, changed the sim and now there’s a red dot there constantly and won’t go away, how can I get rid of it?

I have turned off all my microphone permissions, I have made sure that my voicemail is empty, I have looked at my call-log, I cannot figure out why this red circle is over my phone application.
It’s called a “badge”, and it means there is either a missed call or a voicemail in the Phone app. Tap on Phone and the badge will appear either on Recents or Voicemail; tap on whichever it is to see the missed call or listen to the voicemail.
My husband and I have iPhone 14 pro max each. A couple of months ago a red dot appeared on the call app. When going in to call, there was also a red dot on voicemail icon! We tried all of the fixes we could find and even called Apple Support. We were told we would probably need a new sim each. By chance, I called my husband and told him to let it go to answer phone. He then listened to my message and deleted it ( 3 then 3 again). Hey presto - the annoying red dot disappeared! He then called me and once I had listened to and deleted his message, I too am RED DOT FREE! Hope this is useful.
Hello EVERYONE! I had the same problem! Problem is resolved! First restart your IPHONE THEN GO TO VOICEMAIL LISTENING AND DELETE ALL THE MESSAGES! Red dots ARE GONE! Problem solved!! 🔥⚠️🌟

If a forced restart and an update to current (iOS 17.5) do not clear this, contact your carrier.
Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
Hello There! Go to your voicemail, delete ALL VOICEMAILS MESSAGES , plus YOUR SAFE VOICEMAILS MESSAGES! This is the only way!! ALL VOICEMAILS MESSAGES SHOULD BE DELETED!!!!
It just means you have a Voice Mail not yet listened to. Either listen to it or delete it and the dot will disappear
Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

There is a red square in the right hand corner on my phone. What does that mean next to my clock?
Here is what is documented:

If a forced restart and an update to current (iOS 17.5.1), and following Azcaisse’s suggestion above do not clear this, contact your carrier.
Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
I spent time on the phone with Apple support. What finally worked was making sure my voicemail was empty. And then we reset my network settings. It finally went away.
Mine was like that. Turned out I had a voicemail. Once I listened it disappeared
It worked. I called voicemail and there weren't even any messages. Still worked.
REPLYING TO MYSELF, I FOUND SOMETHING. DO THIS YOU ALL. GO TO YOUR NOTIFICATIONS, CLICK ON PHONE & THEN CLICK THE BADGES OFF. ONCE YOU HAVE DONE THAT THE RED DOT 🔴 WILL BE GONE.
Go to Settings > Notifications> Phone> then turn OFF Badge App button on phone app
The red dot indicates that your microphone is in use by some app
Ostensibly it has nothing to do with the SIM. It indicates that you have some app that's using the microphone. If you don't expect it (for example, you're not on a call) then it may there's some background app using the microphone.
