I record 4K video in 50 fps from a Sony A7s iii. I always edit in a 4K 25 fps timeline, and always have the ability to show down. however this time, on some of the clips (not all), even tho they are all recorded Sith the same settings, the clip is stuttering. 80% 50%, doesn't matter, its not smooth slow motion.
anyone know why this can be?
here is a screenshot from the inspector. Very wired that a camera of this type would record video that is not actually 50 fps. this is only the case with a few clips recorded right after each other, all the other clips are fine when slowing down.
it goes to 50% when retiming to automatic speed. When playing frame by frame, every other frame is the same as the last, this happens when there is not enough frames to fill the retiming. but this should not be an issue in my case since am recording in 50 fps...
It looks like either the clip is not actually 50fps, or the camera recorded as 50fps but somehow it just duplicated every frame...
What does it say in the Inspector?
Open one of the affected clips in MediaInfo, and post a screenshot.
there is stuttering in playback yes. (25 fps timeline, 50 fps clip, clip set to 50% speed).
when going through the Clip frame by frame, I see that every other ram is the same as the last. I have seen that happen before with clips recorded on 25 fps and been set to 50% speed, but never seen this before with a clip with 50 fps.
i don't think I understand what you mean by that.
heres a screenshot of the XML file attached to the clip. you can see that is says 50 fps.
Is the playback stuttering?
Set Retime to Automatic Speed. It should play at half speed. Is it okay?
I’m sorry I don’t understand. Are you seeing duplicate frames in the timeline when you set the 50 material to Automatic Speed in the 25 timeline? You shouldn’t. Is there stuttering in the playback?
Please use MediaInfo as Luis suggested. Also check the project priorities.
MediaInfo is application available from the App Store. The project properties are available using ⌘ J and then clicking on Modify in the Inspector.
