Known download issue with AppStore or not?

How can it be that a brand new MBP 14” M1pro running Monterey 12.6.1 is responding perfectly to a fast internet connection using Safari, but is stalling completely when trying to download purchased apps?

Hours on the phone with support. Tomorrow doing a full erase as a last possible clean slate.

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.6

Boot into Safe Mode to see if you have the same issue. If this works, then you most likely have some third party software installed which is interfering with the normal operation of macOS. Usual culprits are anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, and third party security software.

Sometimes just restarting the computer or device can fix problems.

Edit: Apple also just released a new version of macOS so it is possible it may be affecting downloads from Apple's servers.

Plenty restarts, but no change. Even a blank screen, before the GUI becoming responsive. Download cancels itself after reaching 1MB or less. Reinstalling latest version Monterey didn’t change anything. Later today I’ll connect again with senior tech dept. of Apple Support since they recognized this as a rather deep software error. I just wanted to know if more users have come across similar problems.

thanks for responding

The MacBook is brand new and virgin, no 3rd party software or anti virus installed. Just unpacked, initiated for first use, and trying to download the most important app for me, Logic Pro, purchased previously in the App Store, before I can even think of installing audio and fix plugins etc. So we are talking really about a first use, first step, without having done anything else. I have a Mac Pro on the same fast network, same Apple ID, and the same issue. I tried to access with a test admin, but similar results.

Today I’ll get back in touch with senior tech dept of Apple Support because I have a case ID and it is being recognized. I suggested it being an issue with the Apple ID/password combination, but that was unanimously rejected by them as a possible cause. So far they have no idea what’s wrong. In the meantime I am stuck.

If there is progress I’ll post it here.

thanks for your reply and attempt to help out
