Was formerly able to use Microsoft Outlook app on the iPhone to get to AOL mail. It required generating an app password on AOL. Recently, when Outlook asked me to enter the AOL mail password, I tried generating a new app password on AOL, it responded, "Sorry, this feature is not available right now." Other people seem to have had the same problem, but I've found no work-arounds. Any ideas? (No snide remarks about using an AOL mail account, please.)

It might be useful to also note I came into AOL when they absorbed Compuserve in the early '00s. There's been all manner of corporate takeovers since then. Others have reported it's still not working for their accounts.

Since both Outlook and AOL are not Apple products, you will need to contact AOL and possibly Microsoft for help with their software.

Not helpful. I'm fully aware that neither is an Apple product, but this is a situation where other threads posted by iPhone users here have expressed the same problem and I was hoping someone might have come across a solution. All of the large tech companies seem to be equally unresponsive to their users, so I'm casting a wide net. On an unrelated note, it sure would be nice if Google would reinstate Push from Gmail to the iPhone Mail app.
So I had the same problem. My wife messed up her password for her AOL account on her iPad. I logged on to our laptop and deleted the “iPad Mail” password. Then I logged into WWW.AOL.com Account / Security on her iPad. Went to generate password and typed in “iPad Mail” and it generated it. Make sure to write it down
I am having the same issue. I deleted my outlook for mac aol app password and tried to generate a new one. I get the message "Sorry, this feature is not available right now!". I still have an iphone mail app password. I logged into aol from my phone's browser instead of my laptop's to try to generate one that way and still get the same error. Any other ideas?
I think as others have posted its hit or miss depending on the browser. With that said, I never received the pull down menu to select what I wanted to generate a password for, I wrote down the name of the password I deleted “iPad Mail”, manually typed that in, then selected generate password and it worked. Could never to get it to generate on my PC laptop
Thank you COlorado_Steve. I'm not getting the drop-down menu either but keep trying to type Outlook Mail and still get there error. May I ask what browser you are using? I'm on Safari so wondering if I download a different browser if it might finally start working again for me.
I was finally able to generate a password. I don’t think it had anything to do with the browser, as I had tried them all previously and repeatedly on both Windows and Apple machines. I think it’s an AOL issue, but still have seen no sign of a pattern of when it works and when it doesn’t. At least for now, my issue is resolved, since I was able to get the password I needed.
Thanks CO Steve. When I go into my accounts in Outlook under my AOL, there is no password so I have no way to delete it. Driving me crazy this stupid glitch. AOL has no idea, per them, if or when it will be sorted out.
Thanks. Based on your success last night, I tried it today on a Windows machine with Chrome and it worked! Who knows why, but at least tour answer spurred me to try yet again.

I used an old outdated iPad that’s too old for OS upgrades. It also worked on another iPad that was more current.
It didn’t work until I deleted the Account/Password first on the device, before I tried to add it
