Splitter audio issue with iPhone 8 Plus

So I recently bought a splitter for my phone and the only issue I’m having right now is the audio being muffled up. I can hear the music just fine but the lyrics sung by the artist sounds all muffled and distorted. The splitter I’m using is MFI certified so I’m not really sure what the issue is.

Also the charging side of the splitter works perfectly. I’m only having issues with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The same headphones on a different device works fine so that can’t be the issue also.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We agree that the headphones aren't the issue due to them working with other devices without any issues. That leaves two possibilities: the iPhone headphone jack itself or the splitter you mentioned. To continue narrowing down what could be causing this lower quality audio, we wanted to confirm the following details:

If you test your headphones directly plugged into your iPhone without the splitter, what occurs with the audio quality?
Does the same issue occur in other apps that produce audio?

Which iPhone model are you using?
