Safe OS for Mac Pro late 2013?

What is the latest stable Apple OS for Mac Pro Late 2013?

I was told Catalina would be best. Just want to confirm, as I don't want to tumble down the rabbit hole of no return.

I have had serious issues in the past with Mac Pros that failed with OS upgrades.

Waiting to see if any new Mac Pros appear on the horizon, as there's chat of a new lineup.

Thanks

If you are referring to the Black trashcan Mac Pro, yes, it is compatible with Catalina.

You will need verify your Apps are all 64 bit, as Catalina is unable to run 32 bit apps.

Yes it does support Catalina, JazzJunkie, but Catalina breaks support for all 32 bit stuff. -printer drivers, apps, plugins, etc, so you have to find 64 bit Catalina compatible versions of all of that- so if you can deal with that, then Catalina might be for you… as for new Mac Pro’s, the latest one is, I think, 2019-ish, as for newer than that, well, read the usual Mac/Apple news sources, until

Apple announces one, shows off pictures of one, says they’re shipping and the Apple Store or other apple vendors say they are for sale, and I could possibly touch one in person, then I’ll say there is a new Mac Pro… Till then it’s just rumours…

hope this helps

The 2013 Mac Pro can update all the way to Monterey. As long as you have 16GB of RAM or more, there should be no issues.

There some early issues when Monterey and Big Sur where released, but in general those were just during upgrade installation.

Many people have since then updated to both versions without any issues.

I don't expect the OS itself to have any real issues on a 2013 Mac Pro.
